PERFORMANCES
Multiple Annual Performances
The opportunity to perform are integral to our development as artists. We provide several opportunities throughtout the year for our lower and upper division students as well as those in special programs to take the stage.
The Gift is our Winter Presentation and is open to artists in Ballet, Jazz, or Tap levels IV-VII as well as Hip-Hop IV-VI, Modern and Voice classes. Named in honour of one of our dear teachers and colleagues, Jessica Rawles, whom we lost to Marfan Syndrome in 2008, Jessica’s gifts were many; she was compassionate, funny, soft spoken yet strong spirited. Her untimely departure, at age 28, is a reminder to us all that each day of life is a “gift” and should be celebrated regardless of our circumstances or the season.
As performing, and it’s accompanying preparation process, is a wonderful training tool to help judge the growth of a performing artist, all Upper Division Program students (with the exception of the I-II levels) are invited to perform in The Spring Showcase which is held annually.
Our youngest dancers (2-8 years old) perform in their own show to demonstrate the wonderful growth they’ve experienced through-out the year. These shows are presented annually in The Performing Arts Center’s 150 seat performance space.
The Teen Company performs it’s own show in The Performing Arts Center’s 150 seat performance space as a culmination of the previous year's hard work that was dedicated to honing their art and performance skills.
All High School Seniors who have progressed through our Upper Division Program and are working in the top levels of the school (Ballet VII, Jazz VII, Tap VII and Hip-Hop VI) have the opportunity to perform in “The Senior Showcase,” ; giving them both the opportunity to close this chapter with us as well as create the momentum for their next adventure, wherever that may be.
Our on-going concert series allows professional artists both as performers and creators, a place to develop new ideas or to continue to explore their work on projects and imaginings that perhaps would have no voice in the mainstream commercial world.
